The Perfect One Snip Do It Yourself Haircut
It's hard to believe you could do a haircut in one snip but I've been cutting my hair this way for many years with great results and I've saved so much money by doing it myself. This cut is layered or feathered and works best for a medium to long style, although if you like a long shag (short as you like on top and long on the bottom) it works wonderfully too. It suits all hair types from fine to course and looks natural, no just cut look.
Your Style
The first step is to decide what style you would like. Would you like it long at the back and shorter on top and sides? Or shorter at the back and longer at top and sides? Or would you like it an even feathered lenght all over? Once you've decided you are ready to gather your materials. A good sharp pair of scissors and a brush and comb , a mirror, and a towel for your shoulders. Hair can be wet or dry, but it's easier to cut curly hair when wet. You will also need an elastic band.
How to Snip
1. Begin by combing or brushing out all the tangles.
2. Gather the hair together in a smooth ponytail.
3. Secure the ponytail with the elastic at the chosen position for the desired style
a) longer in top and sides, shorter in back --secure at nape
b) shorter in front and sides and longer in back -----secure at top of head
c) an even length all over-----secure at crown
Once secured in the desired position hold the ponytail in one hand leaving the amount you want to cut off poking out above your fist. Then with scissors in your other hand, take a deep breath and snip straight across.
There, You have the perfect haircut. You can secure your ponytail anywhere along the midline of your head fom forehead to nape depending on the style you prefer. For example if you cut close to the hairline you will create bangs. And if you have long hair and are a bit nervous about cutting it. you can start by snipping ony a little bit.
The beauty of this technique is the perfect and natural looking feathered effect.
