An Account of Past And Present
This morning I had got a blow when I learnt about twin allegations against the deputy speaker of Britain’s House of Commons. It was in 2010 when Nigel Evans come to the forefront and declared his orientation officially. This was the year when he was appointed as the deputy speaker of the House of Commons.
Two guys have alleged that he had raped one of them and had sexually assaulted the other boy. Both of them are in their 20s. Between 2009 and March 2013, these two incidents took place according to these two guys. However, Evans claimed that these allegations are false and he acknowledged that he met one of the boys just last week (according to sources).
Let’s take a look at the real picture
No matter which part of the world it is– gays are not yet welcomed with open arms everywhere. A creation of God, like many other ought to be respected by all. After all, they are humans and they have every right to live their life with dignity and respect like a person who loves the opposite sex.
Need and urgency for establishing gay rights and relations like marriage or living-in bonds, become prominent at the wake of these types of bitter happenings. Why? Human rights activist and watchdogs must keep vigil on these matters. Freedom of gay life style too must not be compromised.
This year Academy Awards saw a veteran actor of the Hollywood industry who came out of closet. We are proud of her and we must protect their lives, talents and happiness.
The allegations against the British deputy speaker at the House of Commons are yet to prove. No matter what’s the result of court trial, we must vow to include gay right within the broad frame work of human rights and take proper steps when they are at stake.
A sense of minority on any ground brings in socio-political tension. It’s time to accept the truth and establish a standard law to protect every human. Gays are no way out of the map of the world. When they are just around in form of our friends, co-workers, brothers, sisters – we have all responsibility to bring them safety, security, peace of mind and a life they want to enjoy like the rest of the population.
Allegation would come and go; some would be investigated into and some other would get justice. We believe in the system. It’s high we make a bit change in our lifestyle and give space to those who are gay and want to stay happy
