Ariel Castro's daughter says 'he is dead to me' about her monster father
The family of self-confessed kidnapper and rapist Ariel Castro is now doing interviews about the extent of his “lies, deception and manipulation,” in order to keep his depraved life a secret.
Angie Gregg, Castro’s daughter, told CNN in a Thursday interview that she was, “disgusted and horrified” when she found out he was the one responsible for kidnapping, raping, beating and starving three young women for almost 10 years.
“My husband and I were in complete disbelief”, Ms. Gregg said in a letter she wrote to process her feelings on the reality of learning the “monster” was her father. Her memories were of a friendly, caring dad and grandfather, but when she looked back over the years, strange and odd things that happened began to make sense.
Per the Washington Post, Angie and her husband would go to visit, but instead of opening the door to them, Castro would signal through the window for them to give him a minute. Then he would return and direct them around the house to enter through the back. He would play loud music, but they thought it was just because he had performed as a musician.
Once, Angie said she asked to see her old room, but he placated her by saying it was too full of junk and she wouldn’t want to see it that way.
Gregg vowed that she would never forgive him, never visit him or call him; “he’s dead to me. He can never be ‘daddy’ again.”
The family of Castro’s former wife, Grimilda Figueroa, who died from cancer last year, told of the abuse she suffered at his violent hands that included being shoved down stairs and beatings that resulted in broken bones and deep bruises. Angie still cries for the loss of her mother, but doesn’t cry for her father and feels no sympathy for him.
Castro’s mother publically asked for “forgiveness from those girls and from their mothers.”
The family is tormented by the reality that has hit them like a tornado without warning. Angie Gregg said she wanted to ask Castro “why?” and she wanted to know how long he thought he could get away with it. He must have known that he would be caught eventually and did he even think about what this would do to his family? She wanted to ask why he never felt guilty enough to let them go.
Angie Gregg’s life faces a new reality and she hopes to one day visit her little sister, since DNA confirmed on Friday that Amanda Berry’s 6-year-old daughter Jocelyn, is indeed, Castro’s child.
Castro is being held on 8 million dollars bail for the kidnapping and rape of Michelle Knight, now 32, Gina DeJesus, now 22 and Amanda Berry, 27.
According to CNN, the prosecutor is seeking charges for each incident of kidnapping, rape and assault. He is also keen on pursuing the death penalty for aggravated murder, due to the five miscarriages endured by Michelle Knight, who was starved and punched in the stomach to force her to miscarry.
Michelle is the only one, who remains in the hospital, but is improving every day.
Ohio law allows the death penalty for killing unborn children.
