Online Job Essentials

Must-Haves:

Every online worker, whether working part-time or not, should have the following:

1) A separate e-mail account that will be used EXCLUSIVELY for work-related and/or business e-mails. For convenience purposes, do not use this email account to register to different social networking sites.

2) A Paypal account. This is a MUST since most employers prefer to pay you through Paypal. All that hard-earned money should be transferred to you. To know more about the know-hows and setting up of Paypal account, click here.

3) Work Equipment - computer or laptop and stable internet connection. Also make sure that the necessary applications such as Microsoft Office are installed in your computer. Webcam and headset may also come in handy, especially if you're applying for a Virtual Assistant (VA) position or other telecommuting jobs but other than that, the first two are what you just need.

4) Basic Skills - Computer skills such as typing and data entry, English skills and Internet skills. Most online jobs available are writing, administrative support and research jobs so basic knowledge of these three skills is a MUST. If you have more than what is required, then the better.

5) Portfolio. Some clients will ask a sample of your previous works, whether it involves design, art works or articles. That's why you should be prepared since they prefer those who have more experience. If you don't have one, then don't worry. There are many programs and sites that can help you improve your skills, Just take some time to learn them.

Remember, the above-mentioned are only the basic things every online worker should have. What's more important is one's willingness and determination to learn and of course, patience. Looking for an online job is difficult and may take some time but after landing that first contract, all the wait is definitely worth it!
