One Night at Borobudur

Richard Gere arrived at Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, 25 June 2011 with his wife and son. In the same day Richard Gere and family met Indonesian President Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Palace. The next day Gere flied to Yogyakarta where he would be welcomed by the Yogyakarta governor at Adisucipto airport. The star of Pretty Woman was scheduled to visit Borobudur temple on Sunday, 26 June 2011 to see The Masterpiece of Borobudur Ballet which would be staged from 20.30-21.30 in the evening.

He one night stayed at Borobudur. Monday morning, Gere would watch the sunrise at the top of the temple. Richard Gere, admitted that he had long dreamed of visiting Borobudur. Gere, who is also leader of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) will do a "Peace Walk" ritual. In this ritual, Gere would surround Borobudur temple three times while reading the prayer. Richard Gere would also visit Mendut and Pawon and tourist villages by elephant or horse-drawn carriage.

"Buddhism has a lot of progress here, I think Indonesia has contributed to the development of Buddhism in the world." Hollywood actor said. On Monday morning, Gere would also do meditation. For this, he invited people to join the meditation with him.

The last time Gere visited Indonesia for about 25 years ago. At that time he visited Bali. This is Gere's first visit to the island of Java. Gere plans vacation to Bali island again after visiting the temple of Borobudur. Gere demanded privacy to enjoy the island with his family.
