Model Turned Hedge Fund Mogul

FASHSION MODEL TURNED WALL STREET MODEL

KEITHGILABERT WAS SCOUTED as an international fashion model at the young age of 15. In his short career he has modeled for top fashion houses in the U.S., Europe and South America. Gilabert says, “entrepreneurship chose me, I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given and modeling definitely taught me that I was my own product which I was marketing.”

As Gilabert became one of the top male models in LA, he soon commanded a fee of $1,000.00 a day to do runway shows. He modeled for high fashion clients such as Benetton, Marc Jacobs, Jcrew, Quiksilver and GHQ. Then suddenly in 1990 he left the fashion industry behind to focus on his education full time.

Gilabert reappeared in the press in 2001 as a top financial trader. In 2001, it was one of the most brutal years the stock market has ever experienced. Billions of dollars were lost worldwide and Gilabert returned over 15% in profits to his investors. His knowledge of the financial markets made him a self-made millionaire by the age of 30.

It’s no surprise that Gilabert has parlayed his success as a Benetton model into an international enterprise. While modeling internationally, Keith Gilabert became fluent in 3 languages and made many business contacts that he used to build a $100 million dollar financial trading firm.

For the past 20 years Gilabert has been negotiating multi-million dollar business contracts for some of Wall Streets’ most respected firms. Gilabert says, “Modeling and Wall Street are very similar, people will always tell you it can’t be done, but if you believe in yourself, it can be done.” Gilabert adds, “There is no disgrace in failing, it’s an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and start over.”

Today, Keith Gilabert has focused his efforts on philanthropic causes. Gilabert's foundations are funding programs to bring awareness to social issues such as domestic violence. Gilabert says, “We all have a moral responsibility to help those that are in need, if we don’t act then what have we become?”

The foundation sponsored by Keith Gilabert most recently received an award by The American Heart Association. Gilabert states, “I know that I can’t change the world overnight but If I can make one change a day, after a year, that’s a pretty big impact.”
Keith Gilabert has been recognized by human rights advocates and several non-profit organizations.
