Days of Other Ways

How To

There were the days
When life knew other ways,
Before the electric gadgets
The people thought were magic.

Made in America

Home-made had an appeal.
Made in America was real.
Do it yourself was true country lore.
Made it well, it has to last.

Gay Print Material

Animal feed sacks were of gay print.
They sure saved on money spent.
Mom went along to the feed store,
To help decide which sack, a few or more.

Home Sewn Clothes

The sewing machine treaded on.
They sewed many hours long.
They sewed clothes for tots, and father's shirts.
They made dresses, blouses and skirts.

Quilters Day

Put what is left in an apron or a table throw.
Then quilters stash began to grow.
Ladies held a quilters day,
While chatting and quilting the hours away.

Wasteful Ways

Then came those wasteful days.
It brought so many wasteful throw-a-ways.
Things like paper feed sacks
Were not made to reuse or last.
