Glacier National Park, United States
Glacier National Park is the most perfect winter destination for skiers and snowshoers alike with its picture postcard scenery and beautiful hiking trails. The ski trails are predominantly for experienced skiers, as most of the slopes are unmarked but there are a range of activities on offer for others who may wish to try boating, camping, fishing or hiking too. If you are travelling with kids, the park rangers organises a Junior Glacier Rangers club for little ones, to keep them occupied whilst you enjoy a much needed rest.
Aspen, United States
Head to Aspen for a beautiful winter wonderland and for avid skiers, it's nothing short of paradise. A popular celeb hang out for the likes of Elle Macpherson and Goldie Hawn, Aspen Resort enjoys world famous views from four key ski areas, cross country trails and even dogsledding tours. It has its own ski slopes for beginners to intermediates called "Buttermilk" and "Snowmass," a skiers dream for family holidays. There are also plenty of attractions off-piste to keep you entertained such as Elk Camp, the new mid-mountain restaurant and Little Nell's Oasis - a pop up champagne bar in Aspen Mountain. St Moritz, Switzerland
St Moritz is in the heart of the upper Engadin - the high valley of the En. With its wonderful panoramic scenery and range of activities for guest to get involved in, it is perfect for those who may be travelling with different interests in mind. There is a high snow fall each year, meaning there is plenty of snow all year round and many activities off slope as well as en-piste. Snow walking and cross country skiing are popular with guests to St Moritz. The local lake is used for show jumping, polo, golf and even cricket. St Moritz is home to many health spas, where guests can relax and unwind whilst enjoying a few special treatments on offer. Originally, tourists would have come to the region as it has one of the oldest traditional health spas with healing waters in the world.
Dolomites, Italy
Many people choose Italy for fine foods, wine and culture, whilst soaking up the sun. But don't overlook Dolomites - a mountain range in the Southern Limestone Alps is perfect for both groups of friends, couples and families alike whether you want to cross the valleys on skis or you prefer freshly fallen snow. The magical winter setting makes it perfect for honeymooners or couples, but there are plenty of family facilities too with slopes designed for children, special rate ski passes for children who need a helping hand and easy ascents onto the slopes, all created with little ones in mind. They also operate a "find a ski partner" facility so that if you are travelling by yourself, you can team up with another winter sports enthusiast for the day. Before you go anywhere, be sure to book your travel insurance - especially if you are going on an adventure holiday - the risk of having an accident abroad is higher than usual when you are on your snow adventure!
